5th Annual Military Christmas Vigil At The Alamo

Yesterday morning Pam and I had the honor of attending the San Antonio Blue Star Mothers 5th annual vigil for our military. Held in front of the Alamo, a hallowed place where fellow countrymen fought and sacrificed, we joined others in honoring the loss of American Heroes, both past and present.

It was my privilage to read a poem aloud to all in attendance. I would like to share it with you now.

THE FINAL ROLL CALL
We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name.

Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our Heart.
Our active military members and thier families were honored. Grace, mercy and peace to all to serve our nation: those who bear arms and those who love them; those in harms way and those who pray for them; those who have been taken from us and those who grieve for them.
Rev. Dr. Daniel G. Mueller Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran Church
Our thanks to all who shared this with us, and Ms. Chris Peche, and all Gold Star Mothers for this wonderful event.
God Bless

A Season of Love and Appreciation

As we near the holiday season - let us be reminded that there are many families across the nation celebrating the holidays with loved ones overseas - fighting for our freedom. The greatest gifts we can give to these families is our prayers and our time. Reach out beyond your family this holiday season and invite a military family to partake in holiday festivity with you! Even the men and women who are now home from war - need to know you are there to support them and their families! Time is the greatest gift we can give!
